Foundations in Learning
INTENT
At Leesland CofE Federation we encourage children to become successful learners by developing thinking and learning skills.
We want the children to realise that their ability is not fixed or predetermined, but that it can grow and develop with effort, application and perseverance.
We want to teach the children skills that will enable them to learn effectively and achieve well.
We encourage a learning environment that
builds meaningful, collaborative relationships
identifies barriers and develops resilience
promotes a culture of learning from mistakes
opens children’s eyes to the world beyond their immediate environment.
IMPLEMENTATION
At Leesland we promote the Foundations of Learning skills through all curriculum subjects. They underpin everything we do and we recognise those skills through our behaviour recognition boards. We focus on one area of Foundations of Learning and the corresponding skills each term through explicit teaching.
