At Leesland, we believe that children need to learn their times tables to provide them with a secure knowledge base to support them with multiplication and division as they progress on their mathematical journey through the school.  By developing fluency of specific times table facts in each year group, we can support the children in making connections between tables and applying their knowledge in situations where tables knowledge higher than the 12 times table is required.  

Their times table journey begins in Year 1, where children start by learning to skip count in 2s, 5s and 10s. In Year 2, teachers developthis knowledge and ensure that children are able to recall both the multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 times tables.
